Our Story

Calgary Mongolian Community Association is a community-based organization founded on the principles of collective participation and volunteer initiative.

During 2024–2025, collaboration among Mongolians in Calgary became increasingly active, with volunteer-driven community events being organized on a regular basis. These activities laid the foundation for the establishment of the association.

In 2024, G. Minjee initiated a Children’s New Year Celebration initiative, which brought new energy and enthusiasm to community participation and engagement. These events were made possible through donations and support from Mongolians in Calgary, and remaining funds were carried forward to support future activities, creating an important foundation for sustainable community initiatives. One of the first major donors was realtor Saraa.B. Also, Davaasuren B has been an active community contributor who played an important role in organizing and supporting various events and initiatives

During this period, members of the Mongolian community in Calgary began discussing the importance and necessity of establishing a unified community association.

Drawing on her background and experience in social work, N. Lkhamdulam led the organizational formation process using participatory and community-based approaches. The drafting and preparation of the organization’s founding documents were carried out collaboratively by N. Myagmarsuren, S. Oyungerel, E. Batsuren, G. Minjee, and N. Lkhamdulam.

As a result, on March 14, 2026, the Calgary Mongolian Community Association was officially established with the participation of 75 members, marking an important milestone for unity and collaborative development among Mongolians in Calgary. The election process for the Policy Council members was successfully organized and overseen by the highly experienced M. ChimedDorj.

Today, the Association continues to work toward preserving and promoting Mongolian language, culture, and heritage, while also supporting community participation, collaboration, and mutual support within the Mongolian community in Calgary.
